The Husband and I have been hearing about Firefly Tapas Kitchen and Lounge on Paradise pretty much since we moved here. Our friends who have been previously have had rave reviews but we continued to not find a reason to go. However, when the Husband’s mom and aunt came to Vegas for a girls’ weekend, I suggested we try Firefly out and enjoy a night of tapas with the ladies.
As we skimmed through the expansive tapas menu, we were brought some bread and olives. We made a game plan where each person would choose two dishes and if needed we’d order more.
We also put in an order for a pitcher of the sparkling white sangria which included champagne and peach. I liked the splash of bubbles and slight hint of peach.
Then we ordered our food and the dishes came out as they were ready (the timing was quite nice with the dishes). First out was the Mushroom Tart which included puff pastry, mushrooms, and boursin cheese. This was a nice way to kick off our night of tapas!
Up next was the Thai Beef Salad with seared beef, thai dressing, ginger, lettuce, tomato and cucumber.
The next dish was the only one we didn’t care for: the Tomato Bread. Our waitress had recommended adding manchego cheese or Serrano ham and perhaps we should have. As is, it was just soggy bread that was slightly tomatoey. Luckily, nothing else disappointed!
To make up for the tomato bread, we had Smoked Salmon Toasts.
The filet mignon sliders caught my eye and we were able to split the two sliders nicely between the four of us. They included Serrano ham, cabrales cheese (a blue cheese, which I tend to dislike, but which went nicely on this), and caramelized onions. Yum!
I loved that we varied the meat and veggie selections as we next had the Veggie Empanada. In included spinach, mushrooms, artichockes, and cream cheese.
Accidentally we were brought the Stuffed Peppers which were roasted red peppers, stuffed with garlic cream cheese and fresh mozzarella. Before the table sent it back (
) I grabbed a bite and it was delish! Definitely ordered one the next time!
Something we actually ordered arrived next: chicken and chorizo stuffed mushrooms.
Something that the Husband’s mom and aunt had never had before were bacon-wrapped dates so that was a must. They loved them!
(As you can see, it got darker throughout the dinner) Up next was the best dish of the night and inspiration for a dinner we made a week later (which you’ll actually see a blog post about!) – Manchego Mac N Cheese. SOOOOOOOOOOOO good! Seriously.
Now, at this point, we were happily full. However, something had caught my eye on the dessert menu and I figured the four of us could each enjoy a bite or two of a tapas dessert. They all agreed so we had the Banana-Nutella sandwiches with a nutella cream dipping sauce. It was as good as it sounds!
Overall, we loved the food – it more than met our expectations that our friends had built up. However, some of the service was lacking. Our waitress was often MIA and not the most personable. However, her assistant (?? I’m not sure what his role was) was amazing! He was attentive, timely, and never let us go with a need unmet. I stopped before I left to personally thank him and get his name – Rene (hopefully I spelled that correctly). Hopefully he’ll be promoted to server one day – if you get him, you’ll be in good hands!
Looking forward to taking more friends here one day soon!

The dates are my favorite by far, love them!
