On the 22nd, one of my favorite blogs, Travel, Wine and Dine, posted about all of the travel she and her husband had done this year and it made us think about how much we’ve traveled. We know it’s been a lot as the Husband just earned his 1K status with United and I wasn’t very far behind. When we got to looking at the blog, though, we realized that so much of our travel has been in the car!
For those of you new to the blog, or those wanting a recap (and for us in the future when we want to look back on 2010), here are a good amount of our posts of travel from this year. Over the past few months, the Husband has picked out a number of his favorite photos from our travels to populate the ever changing header above. The posts themselves show so much more than the headers do so I highly recommend that you check them out!

While our blog definitely has a focus on restaurants, our passion really is travel. We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to travel to Australia AND make a cross country American road trip, all within a few months of each other. In addition to the above, we also had multiple trips to DC/Maryland/Virginia for weddings and family get-togethers. We went to New York, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, and Atlanta. We’ve had a lot of fun exploring the Las Vegas area and we miss Charlotte.
As for 2011, the Husband and I have made a tentative list of places we want to visit – many of which are just a short drive from Las Vegas. One of my biggest regrets is that I didn’t take more advantage of Charlotte’s close proximity to many great southeastern places (Savannah was high on my list!) so we hope to really enjoy Las Vegas’s location in the southwest. So far, we are definitely going to Disneyland and the Grand Canyon
We’re making plans to go to Sedona, Lake Tahoe, Death Valley, Santa Fe, Bryce Canyon, Salt Lake City, Yellowstone, and most likely Napa/Sonoma/San Francisco/Yosemite for my big 3-0 celebration in the fall. We have at least two weddings in 2011 (one in Kansas and one back in the Outer Banks) as well as return trips to San Diego, DC, and Charlotte. The Husband is also looking into possibly an Alaskan cruise and maybe a trip to London to visit one of my best friends who just moved there (hi Jaclyn!). It kinda makes me tired looking at all of that yet so excited at the same time! Lots of long weekend vacations are in store for us in 2011! What about you?
Happy New Year Blog Readers! ![]()
You should consider the Reen Earth Outdoor’s backpacking trip through the gRand Danyon in early April. I can get you the itinerary if you’re interested.
Wow! I want to travel with you, so many great places. I do want to take more advantage of our New England location, especially since my aunt recently moved to VT. We are hoping to add some short ski and snowshoe trips to our list as they only take a couple of hours in the car.
If you need recommendations for Napa and Sonoma, I am happy to help!
I’m so happy to see Bryce Canyon on your list! I love Utah’s National Parks! You should also consider Zion National Park and Arches National Park.
I lived in Salt Lake City for a year and a half after college. There is a restaurant called the Red Iguana that is EXTREMELY popular. Excellent mexican food with a line out the door at busy meal times.
I’m planning to visit Death Valley this year. I feel bad that I’ve never been there despite having lived here in Vegas for 5 years!
I hope you can squeeze a trip to London in! I’m looking forward to reading about all your adventures!
