As part of my Holiday Date planning for the Husband and I, I wanted to do something holiday related. I’d seen magazine ads for the Springs Preserve Holiday Spectacular for a number of weeks and on the day I was planning the date, I saw an ad again. When I looked at a map and saw that Rosemary’s Restaurant was on the same side of town (relatively speaking since we’re down in the Southeast), I knew that after our amazing dinner there, it would be fun to take a leisurely walk through Christmas lights and festivities. Tickets for adults were $8 and discounts were available if we donated non-perishable food items so we stocked up on some canned goods to bring along with us. After we bought our tickets, we wandered through the preserve to see what there was to offer. Throughout the park, we found these helpful signs directing us towards the different activities.
We made our way toward the back of the preserve where the gardens are and found many cacti covered in Christmas lights. Our first holiday season in the desert is a bit surreal for us, but we aren’t complaining too much about the warmer weather
(we’ll get our snow fix hopefully when we’re home with our families this coming week on the east coast)
We found one sad tree decorated with a single giant candy cane.
We were treated to snowmen… both inflatable and fabric.
The theme of the park was very child-focused. There was a “kiddie train.”
There was also an “avalance slide” as well as opportunities to do crafts, have one’s face painted, and eat cookies with elves. I’m pretty sure I saw an area to have your photo with Santa.
The park had two concert stages. One was a bit smaller and we came upon a middle school choir concert.
The much larger stage was near the front of the park and there was a quartet performing.
About halfway through watching the quartet, a loud motor revved up and the children went crazy. *Snow* (or so they hoped) It was a “snow” making machine (we’re pretty sure it was soap?). The kids were loving it, dancing around and trying to catch the flakes.
Overall, this was a very family friendly place to get in some holiday spirit. We felt a bit silly as we think we may have been the only couple there without children, but for the price, it was a fun bit of holiday spirit. We know that if we had children, they would have loved it so if you’re in the area and looking where to take your kids, definitely check this place out. It’s open from 5-9pm up until the 23rd.
Anyone been to any other holiday-themed area in the Las Vegas valley? What should we be sure to check out next year at this time?
The Ethel M Cactus Gardens are always decorated with holiday lights each year too.

We usually make a trip to it each year. It’s free to walk through, so it’s kind of become a tradition for us since moving to Vegas.
Thanks for the tip Jill! We’ll be sure to check it out next year!
