Generally when we’re in the Outer Banks, we tend to spend all of our time in the Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills area. The Husband and his brother had actually never been north into Duck or Corolla so when we learned that my sister-in-law has friends who own a place in Corolla, we headed north to meet up with them, check out the area, and grab some lunch. They recommended we try out Fishbones Sunset Grille & Raw Bar in Duck based on reviews they’d heard (they’d never been themselves). Funny enough, I’ve actually been here while on my first visit to OBX way back in Summer 2004. I didn’t remember much except the great view, but looked forward to going back ![]()
Since it was a beautiful day, we asked to sit outside. Look at that view of the sound!
All of the tables had umbrellas but some seats obviously get sun throughout the day as the sun moves (or more correctly, the earth moves :-))
True to the theme, the menu was brightly colored and filled with seafood. We were hungry so I made sure to order an appetizer for the table.
We had the Bacon Wrapped Scallops… I thought they were okay (too much bacon in my mind), but the Husband thought they were good.
For our meals, the Husband ordered a salad with shrimp. He thought it was fine and satisfied him.
I had the Ahi Tuna Sandwich. It was overcooked in my opinion but not bad. The french fries were good and the guys ate up what I didn’t finish ![]()
Overall, the food was fine, but our waitress was not particularly friendly. It almost felt like we were bothering her or a burden. She may have just been having a bad day, but who knows. Pretty much, the only good thing for us was the view. A very pretty one at that! I don’t expect we’ll be back to this place again…
