The Beautiful Outer Banks

Over the past few years, the Husband and I have been to the Outer Banks, specifically Nags Head, North Carolina, a handful of times together.  We were married there in March 2008, had a trip there prior to that to plan the wedding, and now two trips around Labor Day with our family and friends.  We love the Outer Banks and hope to own a beach house ourselves one day.  Unfortunately, during most of our trips, we’ve had poor weather.  That didn’t hurt the vacations too much as we enjoy just hanging out in the beach house, lounging in the hot tub, and listening to the sounds of the ocean.  However, the weather on this month’s vacation was beautiful and we enjoyed every second of it.  We took a handful of walks on the beach and I fell in love with these little birds, perhaps sand pipers?, who run all along the water’s edge feeding, but scurrying away as fast as possible from the waves.  Our last morning at the beach, I knew I had to get out to get some pictures to remember the beautiful beach by.

The house we stayed at on this trip is the same one we stayed at for our wedding – Kokomo.  It’s on the ocean and is perfect for a large group.  We love pretty much everything about this house.

The guys in the house made sand sculptures a few of the days and their great creation the second to last day was a submarine being attacked/eaten by a giant squid.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the greatest view of it, but you can somewhat see it to the left of this picture.

And then there’s just the natural beauty of the beach…

Just looking at these pictures again, makes me feel like I’m on vacation :-)

What’s your favorite vacation spot that you go back to over and over again?
