One of our good friends knows his good food – if he recommends a place, you know it’s going to be a good place to eat. Too bad he doesn’t write a food blog but hopefully his recommendations will benefit you! Places he’s recommended and we’ve loved include Lindo Michoacan and I Love Sushi. A few weeks ago, he and the Husband went to lunch at Metro Pizza and the Husband has been raving ever since. I was excited to head there myself with the Husband this past Sunday night for dinner. We decided to walk there as we’re less than a few miles from the restaurant, it was still a nice day, and there are sidewalks a-plenty here
After you see how big the pizza is, it’s good thing we had an opportunity to walk home!
There are a handful of locations in the Las Vegas area, this one located in the southeast. When we walked in, the colors were impressive but not overwhelming. It had the classic pizza place look with the checkered table cloths but other colors and energy throughout. Not in an overwhelming way though.
We were seated in a booth near the bar and we were able to catch some of the football pre-season games that were flashing by.
You also might notice all of the murals in the restaurant.
As the Husband and I contemplated what pizza to get, our waitress brought us some warm, soft, crusty bread. I never really thought about it before, but good pizza places should have good bread – dough is their business and all – and Metro Pizza’s bread was excellent!
Look at all the pizza options!
Before pizza ordering we had beer ordering to do! I went with the Uncle Joe’s Honey Porter while the Husband ordered the Aunt Connie’s Amber Ale. He really enjoyed the amber. My porter was just so-so at first before I realized it needed to be at room temperature… it took a long time to get there, but when it did, I enjoyed it.
A few days ago, the Husband and I hit up the Slider Truck again. While waiting in line, I tweeted about it and Metro Pizza responded letting us know that they have sliders as well – Meatball Sliders on their Garlic Knots. Sounds delish, no? I searched the menu high and low for them to be an appetizer and couldn’t find them. Luckily, our waitress (who was a sweetheart!) knew where to find them – in the sandwich section. The Husband and I ordered some to start and wow, they were good. The knots weren’t particularly garlicky, but the meat was tender, the marinara and provolone were sweet and gooey – it was a great way to kick off the meal.
So, the Husband knew that he wanted to order the Metro Pizza, their namesake – a thicker crust and extra cheese. We chose to add pepperoni to ours as well. We debated about what size to get, but since we had a coupon and we love leftovers we went for the large. Our waitress warned us about the size, but we thought – how big could it be?
Big! Here’s my one slice with my iPhone for scale.
So good! And really good as leftover pizza too! Both as cold leftovers as well as microwaved and toaster oven heated. You can’t go wrong with this pizza.
Toward the end of the meal, I noticed the mural on the other side of the Husband – a map of the country, with great art, and arrows of local pizza joints.
Pointing at Charlotte, they had Fuel Pizza (a place we enjoyed but didn’t get back to after we started blogging). Near DC were both Ledo’s and Armand’s, pizza chains the Husband and I and our friends grew up on.
Missing from the map are our two favorite pizza places – Giordano’s in Chicago and Brixx in Charlotte. Both so different and so good! Metro Pizza is now added to our list but we sure to miss Brixx… At least Metro Pizza will help push Brixx out of our mind ![]()

I’ve only been to Metro Pizza twice in the 5 years I’ve lived in Vegas… such a sad fact because their food is delicious. But they need to open a store in the Northwest so it’s more convenient for me!
