Josie’s Fro Yo at The District

On Sunday, the Husband and I spent the afternoon running errands and had a late lunch while out.  We decided to skip dinner, go for a long walk, and grab some frozen yogurt in The District, a shopping district that was focal point in the decision we made in where to look for a place to live.  The District is filled with lots of shops (some of my favs – Anthropologie, Ann Taylor Loft, Williams Sonoma) as well as restaurants (for example, the Elephant Bar) and Whole Foods (one of the things I was first most excited about having in my life again).  With the great walking and bike paths of Henderson, we wanted to be in a reasonable distance to The District in our new home and are so glad that we are :-)

Earlier in the week, the Las Vegas Groupon of the day introduced the Husband and I to a frozen yogurt location in The District that we were unaware of: Josie’s Self Serve Frozen Yogurt.  We found it nestled next to a handful of the restaurants in the area and began planning out future walks and dinners in the area :-)

Upon entry into Josie’s, we were overcome with color! It was bright and cheery and immediately put a smile on my face.

Signs provided the simple directions we needed and we were provided with four sizes of cups to fill.  I chose the second smallest size.  Normally, I would choose the smallest, but I wanted room for my toppings without them falling out!

The website provides a very lengthy list of flavors which they swap in and out of their eight or ten dispensers.  The Husband chose a swirl of Strawberry and Cookies N Cream while I went with individual swirls of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and peanut butter.

Lots of toppings to choose from! Fruit, candy, cereal, granola, and sauces.  This might be my favorite part of serve yourself frozen yogurt.  I love being able to choose as much or as little as I like.

One thing that Josie’s makes a big deal about is that they don’t use high fructose corn syrup.  Instead, they use pure crystalline fructose.  The website provides background on the different types of sugars.  Not being knowledgeable enough myself in this area, I’ll leave that area to their website.  What I can say is that the sweetness of the yogurt didn’t taste fake which I appreciated.

After weighing our dishes, I turned in our Groupon certificate.  We were impressed with the price for the yogurt we had (about $7 or so for the two of us).

We enjoyed our sweet treat and imagine we’ll be back :-) At least once as we have another Groupon to use!

Do you have a favorite frozen yogurt place?

I never heard of Josie’s until I saw the groupon for it, so I am glad you went! I will have to try it next time we are out that way. U-Swirl is the normal go to yogurt place, but I like that Josies has no HFCS!
