Friday night, after dinner at Lola’s, the four of us headed a few blocks down to Frankie’s Tiki Room for a drink.
Unfortunately, that was the only picture I got as the bar was quite dark and I didn’t want to break out the flash (I felt it would ruin the other patrons’ experience). Our first impression when we walked in was that this place was fun! The owners did a great job with designing the inside to get the overall theme. Check out the photos on their website and Urbanspoon (click below) to see some photos of the inside.
We lucked out when we arrived and there was one table left for four. We took a seat and just took the whole bar in. It was dark and smoky but as I said it had a fun vibe to it. We opened up the menu to try to figure out what we were going to drink. Once the decisions were made, the boys headed to the bar to get our drinks. The Husband commented on how impressed he was with the bartender. They only had to give the names and the drinks were perfectly made in front of them. Fridays are Aloha Fridays. Anyone wearing a Hawaiian shirt gets half off of their first drink. The boys knew this and planned their hawaiian shirt wardrobe accordingly.
The menu has a number of skulls next to each drink, designating how much alcohol is in the drink (from one skull to five I believe). I ordered the Kahiki Kai which had coconut rum, banana liqueur, and pineapple juice, a milder drink to enjoy. I liked it
It brought me back to my college days when I preferred the girly coconut rum and pineapple juice.
The Husband is NOT a fan of anything coconut or pineapple. Luckily, there were options available to him as well. He ordered the Lava Letch. It was made with demon rum, brandy, raspberry liqueur, and ginger beer. He wasn’t a big fan of it, but he rarely drinks liquor so I think this was too many kinds for him.
Overall, we liked the feel of the place. It was fun and off of the strip, always a plus for locals. When we’re in the mood for fruity drinks, I imagine we’ll be back.
