On Monday night, the Husband and I met up with a friend who lives in the Henderson, NV area for dinner. We headed over to BJ’s, a restaurant located in Henderson itself.
The restaurant and bar were quite large and spacious. There were a lot of food and beer options to choose from.
Being a brewhouse, they brew their own Root Beer on site. The Husband and I have tried to brew root beer at home before (for those of you that don’t know, the Husband is a homebrewer) and it didn’t turn out well (under carbonated) so we always enjoy trying other freshly brewed root beers. This one was flavorful, but under-carbonated as well. Oh well! Still enjoyable.
The Husband decided to try the BJ’s Pale Ale. He thought it was good. Not stellar, but enjoyable.
On the menu, they had a section called Snacks and Small Bites. I thought that was a cute title. What made it even better was that they had mac n cheese
(I think I may have a problem…) Theirs was called Gourment Mac N Cheese. It included rotelle pasta with three cheeses, chipotle and a hint of garlic. It was topped with seasoned breadcrumbs and bacon then oven-baked for a golden brown finish. It was good!!
The Husband and our friend gladly shared this appetizer with me ![]()
As for entrees, our friend is a fan of their flatbread pizzas. He had one of his favorites – the Grilled Chicken Pesto Flatbread. It was a basil pesto sauce drizzled over mozzarella and fresh parmesan cheeses then topped with grilled chicken, red onions and sun-dried tomatoes.
The Husband, still not feeling well, ordered something simple – a baked potato with all the fixins.
I was craving pizza so I tried their mini size of the BJ’s Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza. It had ground Angus beef, red onions, Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes and chopped dill pickles drizzled with their signature burger sauce. It was interesting. I think they did a good job of melding the flavors, but it unfortunately didn’t hit the spot. I, perhaps, should have gone with a basic tomato and cheese deep dish. Next time!
Overall, the three of us enjoyed our meal and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. I imagine we’ll be back to check out one of the many other options they offer.
