Last night, the Husband and I got together with Kath, Matt, Kate and Nate for potentially our last visit to the Waldhorn
As our more frequent readers know, we love the Waldhorn. This past year, we celebrated Oktoberfest there. We went to Schnitzelfest
It was one of the first restaurants we reviewed on this blog!
We’ve been trying to arrange a group visit to the Waldhorn for practically a year. Finally, we found that last night would work for the most people of those interested in visiting. It wasn’t until we arrived that the Husband and I realized this would likely be our last time there (we’re moving in two months).
The Husband and I arrived about 15 minutes early after an afternoon shopping in the area so we decided to hang out at the bar. I got my usual at the Waldhorn, the Old Mecklenburg Brewery (OMB) Copper.
Right after our beers arrived, Kate and Nate arrived! The Husband’s first beer was a Spaten Oktoberfest.
Not more than a few minutes later, Kath and Matt arrived too! We hung out around the bar for a little bit until a table was ready.
Upon being seated, the Husband and I shared lots of our experiences with Kath and Matt (Kate and Nate had been with us previously!) including great things to have and substitute in the dishes. We started out with the much loved pretzel rolls.
The Husband and I got generally our usuals: the Schweizer Schnitzel. Breaded pork tenderloin stuffed with ham and swiss.
I ordered mine with spaetzle and schupfnudeln (I like to call them potato fingers).
The Husband had his with spaetzle too and sauerkraut.
The Husband enjoyed a second beer – Spaten Lager – in a liter glass (he gets a kick out of getting one of these!)
And Matt enjoyed a Spaten Optimator in a super fun glass.
It was a great last visit to the Waldhorn and we’re so glad our good friends were able to visit with us! We’re currently thinking about going to Oktoberfest in Germany in 2011 and hope our friends can come too! Until then, we look forward to hanging out at the Hofbrauhaus in Las Vegas after our move

Wow – a pretzel roll – never seen one of those before! Just think of all of the fun you’ll have testing out and finding a new Beer Haus!
MORE ROLLS PLEASE!!!!!!
