Last night the Husband and I were particularly hungry – having both had very busy days with little time to eat – and the Husband had heard that our favorite German restaurant (in America) was having a Schnitzel Fest all weekend long so we were able to quickly decide where to go! We love the Waldhorn and make it a point to take anyone there who visits us (and likes German food and/or beer). The Husband normally orders the Schweizer Schnitzel and was looking forward to seeing what options were available with this festival.

Originally I planned on ordering their Vegetable Streudel which I love, but since the Husband was hoping that I’d order the Pizza Schnitzel so that he could try it, I decided to do so.
We started, however, with our favorite appetizer: goat cheese, spinach, and sundried tomatoes in phyllo dough with a mushroom sauce and sour cream. SO GOOD!

One of the Husband’s favorite items at the Waldhorn is their pretzel rolls. I unfortunately forgot to take a picture!
To quench his thirst, the Husband ordered a Warsteiner.

The Husband ordered the Yellow Curry Schnitzel with almond rice, sauerkraut, and spaetzle.

Here was my Pizza Schnitzel with spaetzle and broccoli. (Sorry for the blurry picture! It didn’t look this blurry on the phone.)

And with Schupfnudeln or what I call German Potato Fingers

Both dishes were wonderful and filling with lots of leftovers to enjoy later. As we’ve said before, we love the Waldhorn. Friday and Saturday nights there is an accordian player who plays all sorts of German and American classics. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Charlotte area.
As a side note, GermanDeli.com is having a contest for The Best German Restaurant in America. If you’ve been to the Waldhorn and loved it (or just love the pictures and descriptions we share), feel free to vote for them here.
