Welcoming Five Guys to Las Vegas

A few weeks ago, the Husband and I got word that Five Guys would be opening up in Las Vegas – and not only would they be in the area, they would be opening near our house and the general area that we frequent for shopping and food! I think I may have done a little dance Smile with tongue out Now, there are a number of hamburger chains in the area (the usual, like McDonalds,  Burger King, etc.) and regional ones such as In N Out Burger, Phatburger, and such, but being from the DC area, the Husband and I love our Five Guys.

On Thursday, I had big plans to get a cupcake for dinner, but by the time I was ready for dinner, most bakeries were closed.  As I traveled down Eastern Avenue (aka the giant shopping center), I thought of the new Five Guys and headed straight there.  When I arrived, it was hoppin’ as it should be!

One of the signatures of Five Guys are the free peanuts for customers.  While waiting in line, I walked past this giant box of peanuts (but chose not to get any myself).

All of the food comes in paper bags – easy to transport and soaks up some of the oil from the fries.

The menu isn’t very large but fits exactly what you need – burgers & cheeseburgers (either regular or “little”), hotdogs, and fries.  My go-to choice is always a little cheeseburger with mushrooms.  I’ll sometimes get other things on there as well, but that was all I wanted that night.  And it was perfect! For some reason I remembered them being a bit greasy but this one wasn’t in the slightest. (There are onions in the background as I accidentally ordered “onions” instead of “grilled onions” and I’m not a fan of raw onions.)  Don’t be fooled by the word “little” in the cheeseburger’s title – as it’s not tiny.  It’s bigger than a McDonalds hamburger, but isn’t huge.

I also got an order of the regular size of fries (also quite large – I barely made a dent in them).  The bonus to the paper bag, in addition to soaking up some of the peanut oil is the ability to rip it open to enjoy them Smile

Some other perks of Five Guys includes their hot dogs being Kosher (my favorite kind!) and all toppings for burgers being free.  They have a good assortment of toppings as well: mayo, relish, onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, A-1 Steak Sauce, BBQ sauce, and hot sauce.

Don’t be scared off by a long line as it moves smoothly and tables open up as your food becomes ready. (However, if you or your loved ones have peanut allergies, steer clear! Lots of peanut stuff going on here as you’ve seen in this post)  I was very impressed with the amount of staff on site, both in the cash register and prep area as well as keeping the restaurant neat, tidy, and orderly.  While I haven’t had a hot dog yet here, I’m looking forward to trying one in the near future (along with more cheeseburgers as the craving hits!).  I don’t get excited about many burger places, but Five Guys is where it’s at for me Smile

  1. I’ve never been to Five Guys, so I guess I’ll have to give it a try. I’m not that much of a fan of In-N-Out and never understand why people get sooooo excited over it.
