This weekend, the Husband and I are actually at home! We’re relaxing after a fun 5K with Kath and Matt and I’m catching up on blogging so you’ll likely see a bunch of posts this weekend! Last weekend was our last personal trip until Thanksgiving week (counting down to Disney World for the Husband’s 30th birthday!). We headed up to Maryland to attend my childhood friend’s wedding near Annapolis (Congrats Kelli & Simon!). The wedding was on Sunday so we spent Saturday with my family for lunch before heading to Northern Virginia to spend time with the Husband’s
For lunch, the Husband, my parents, and I decided to head to downtown Silver Spring to the Redrock Canyon Grill (which has actually been renamed the Copper Canyon Grill although everything still bore the original name).
All four of us ordered iced teas. There was a bit of confusion as shifts changed with the wait staff and some of us received plain iced tea while others received raspberry sweet tea. The Husband and I stuck with the raspberry tea. Be sure that you specify if you decide you want tea!
My dad went with the Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans. He liked them. A warning though – the mashed potatoes were spicy so if you’re like most of my family, don’t get them if you don’t like spice!
My mom went with the Grilled Chicken and Avocado Club Sandwich. It had chicken breast, avocado, bacon, tomato, sprouts, Swiss, and honey mustard on grilled wheat. This was one of the first items that stood out to me on the menu and it looked like my mom enjoyed it. She chose glazed carrots as her side. Yum!
The Husband went with the Wood Grilled Tenderloin Beef Tip Salad. It contained mixed greens, croutons, red onion, tomato, pear, Gouda & Honey-sesame vinaigrette. He also ordered a side of Mac Daddy Mac & Cheese which had bacon and red pepper (the spicy kind, not the sweet kind) in it.
I went in a similar direction with the mac & cheese and the “Not So Simple??? House Salad. My salad came with mixed greens, grape tomatoes, chèvre, carrots, spiced pecans, croutons & Adobe dressing.
The Husband and I were both happy with our choices but disappointed that we forgot to ask for dressing on the side. The salads were SOAKED in dressing – it was a bit overwhelming and definitely took away from the “healthiness” of salads. We’d order them again – just remembering to have it on the side though!
The service was pretty great! We certainly never went thirsty and the staff was quite friendly…
If you don’t like spice, definitely ask your server if items you might order are spicy – they like to add seasonings to their dishes. There are a lot of options to choose from. We haven’t been disappointed yet
